Well, I’ve spent the past week creating the new design of this site from scratch (with a little help from the internet, and some generous sampling from the typographers and toolers behind 17th century editions of Castiglione’s The Courtyer and L’Strange’s translation of Aesop.) The reviews are a mix of old and new, which seems to dilute the focus of the site, but I can rationalize it this way: People are paying attention to what’s new–and it’s what publishers want to market, and it attracts readers. At the same time, who am I hurting if I introduce some evergreen leafage into your reading diet? Nobody, that’s who.
